A significant synergism exists between atenolol and amlodipine in lowering and stabilizing blood pressure in SHR-SP. Combination therapy may be an optimal strategy for the prevention of stroke in hypertension.It inhibits movement of calcium ions across cell membrane in systemic and coronary vascular smooth muscle. It is used for the treatmeant of hypertension;chronic stable angina; vasospastic (Prinzmetal’s or variant) angina.
