This medicine is part of a group of medicines called glucosidase inhibitors. It is used for the treatment of diabetes that is non-insulin-dependent. It works by slowing down complex sugars in the digestion of carbohydrates which reduces the abnormally high levels of blood sugar in your body after each meal. It can be used to treat diabetes when eating habits-restricted alone or eating plan-restricted and other sugar-lowering medications are not working well enough.
